Case Study: Severe Sciatica

Treatment of: Multi level Disc Degeneration & Disc Bulge with Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression

Condition:  History of Low back pain for 10 years.  Constant ache in the low back, right worse than left.  Episodes of sciatic pain which ‘buckle him’ and totally disable the patient.  Patient’s condition is complicated by diabetes.

Patient:   Patient is a 56 male, Operating Engineer.

Objective findings: MRI revealed:  4-5mm Disc Bulge at L5-S1.  Dessicated (degenerative) Disc at L1-2, L2-3, L3-4, L4-5, L5-S1

Prior Treatment:  Various courses of chiropractic, physical therapy and medications

Initial Pain Level:   Low back pain of 4/10, with 10 being worst,  Occasional radicular leg pain scored at 10/10.

Course of Care: 10 sessions of axial decompression with associated therapies

Outcome:  Pain at time of discharge was 0/10

Case Review: Low back pain & Sciatica

Treatment of: Multiple levels of degenerative disc disease, disc protrusions & annular tears with Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression

Condition:  Moderate to severe low back pain with a burning sensation in the legs.

Patient:  51-year-old female with a history of multiple falls and other injuries to her spine.

Objective findings:  L4-5:  3-4 mm left neural foraminal protrusion with associated annular tear and mild left sided subarticular Stenosis.  T12-L1 4mm central protrusion with annular tear.  Multiple levels of desiccation and degenerative disc disease.

Initial Pain Level:   8 out of 10, with ten considered the worst possible pain

Course of Care: 20 sessions of axial decompression over 6 weeks.  

Short Term Outcome:  Patient achieved 100% relief of pain or a pain level of ‘0’ by the 15th axial decompression treatment.
